I spent some time at Fletcher Cove one morning and decided to recreate the mood and feel of the start of a sunny day but with the moodiness of coastal mist and interestingly, choppy surf. I chose to use palette knives in lieu of brushes to create the effect of the atmosphere. Palette knives give me the opportunity to work impasto (heavy thick paint) without over-blending. This gives the painting a very impressionistic feel.
